| A few years ago, Don Shorock made a name for himself at the Walnut Valley
Festival by retyping the schedules into performer order and handing out copies
to his old and new friends in the campground. After upgrading to a
1990s computer, he built one of the first WVF fan sites, The Unofficial Walnut
Valley Festival Pages. With its popular Memory of the Week feature,
campground guide, and frequent news updates, it quickly became a must-visit
site for festival fans on the Internet.
But Don didn't stop there. He went on to create web sites (official and unofficial) for numerous performers and Kansas-area festivals, as well as an Excite Community for Kansas Folk Music. In 1998 became the web wrangler for the Official Walnut Valley Festival web site, putting him in the unusual position of managing both the official and unofficial sites. |
